Recently, it was noted that
Google was engaging in activity that could indicate it had joined in the fight against zombies. Although, one of our community postulated the theory
that Google might not be against zombies but with them! Interesting theory and one which only time will be able to comment on... With the amount of money and marketing power behind Google, it is a frightening thought. However, further research has revealed that Microsoft has been encouraging users to
share health data since 2007 via
Microsoft HealthVault.
Live Search Health allows users to search for specific conditions, which in turns, probably allows Microsoft to track which medical conditions are being searched for and where. Tracking conditions in this covert way is reminiscent of
Google Flu Trends, which tracks US flu activity and no doubt can be modified, if it is not already being used for such a purpose, to track undead activity. Likewise,
HealthMap tracks global diseases with indicators of levels of activity. Tellingly, this particular site tracks diseases such as TB, West Nile Virus, plague and several other diseases that are often used to explain away undead activity.
However, if Microsoft are involved in the fight against zombies, this could possibly be even better news than Google joining the fight. With its immense reach throughout the world and what sometimes seems like unlimited funds, Microsoft could really make a difference. The question is, though, are Microsoft and Google really involved? And if so, which sides are they on?
