UK - "Very serious" risk from zoonotic infections

It has been reported that the management of zoonotic infections in the UK poses a very serious risk. Previously we have reported of the serious risk posed by zoonotic pathogens in the USA. Now, the head of the British Veterinary Association (BVA) has warned that the UK Government’s failure to halt the spread of bTB (a tuberculosis variant) is putting human health at risk in the UK.

Speaking before the Defra Secretary Hilary Benn, association president Nicky Paull said:

“As veterinary scientists and practitioners, we remain convinced that steps need to be taken immediately, and humanely, to control the spread of infection in all susceptible species.”
